Steno Notepad (“the extension”) is a notepad that runs in your browser toolbar. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your information.
Nothing is sent to us. The extension has no servers, no account, and no analytics. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.
The notes you write — along with their titles, color tags, pin state, and your light/dark theme choice — are saved locally on your own device using the browser’s chrome.storage.local API. This data stays in your browser. We never receive it. Removing the extension removes this data.
When you click the grab button, the extension reads the text you have currently selected on the active tab and saves it as a new note on your device. This happens only when you press the button. The extension does not read page content in the background, and the grabbed text is never transmitted anywhere — it is stored locally like any other note.
The extension requests no broad host permissions and uses no remote code.
The extension is a general-purpose notepad and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new “last updated” date.
